SHIH TZU, IMPERIAL SHIH TZU, CHINESE IMPERIAL DOG!
I fell in love with the Shih Tzu the summer of 1975 when I attended the International
School Of Dog Grooming in New York City. The first Chinese Imperial Dog that I remember is a little female named Buttercup. She was about eight pounds and oh so easy going. She would lay on her side and let me comb tangles forever. After her bath and blow dry Buttercup would sit on the grooming table looking into my eyes while I attached a bow to her top knot. She was a perfect angel that I still remember more than three decades later.
Most of the Shih Tzu that I have met since have been agreeable little creatures. They love everyone! Their claim to fame is how well they get along with children. Kids can wrestle with, dress up and then carry their puppies off to bed. In addition to everything else, Shih Tzu have hair instead of fur, don't shed and are great for most people who suffer from allergies.
